History of Chrysalis: The Developmental Service

Chrysalis: The Developmental Service, which derives its name from the stage of the butterfly in which the most development occurs, was founded in 2004 in Baltimore, Maryland. It merged out of the frustration of current mental health trends that provide superficial, short lasting solutions to an array of dilemmas that stagger individual growth and satisfaction. Christa Raines (Executive Director of Chrysalis TDS) founded Chrysalis TDS as a result of her clinical observations combined with the constructive feedback of a long list of treated clients. Through this it was clinically derived that life satisfaction is dictated by the harmony and mergence of four facets of the individual; mental, physiological, economical and spiritual facets. Christa Raines used the mergence of these facets as the developmental treatment foundation for Chrysalis TDS. In November of 2004 Chrysalis TDS opened its then “virtual doors” to the general public by offering pilot workshops addressing each of the four facets. The response was positive and all the encouragement Christa needed to begin this service and to extend to all individuals searching for long-term life satisfaction.
