What is a Licensed Professional (Clinical) Counselor?
Licensed Professional Counselors (LCP or LCPC), Licensed Clinical Social Workers (LCSW), Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist (LMFT or MFT), Psychologist are all credentialed licensed mental health practitioners and operate as clinical therapists in varying capacities. With the exception of a Psychologist most licensing governing bodies require all eligible applicants to have a minimum of a Masters Degree with a concentrated course curriculum in clinical therapy (Psychologist require a doctorate degree), participation in a clinical practicum/internship, an average accruement of 3000 hours (varies from state to state) of providing clinical services under the supervision of an established licensed practitioner; and to exhibit knowledge of clinical practices/research/therapy by receiving a passing score on a comprehensive clinical exam. Are the sessions/email correspondence confidential?
The exchange of any information between you, Chrysalis TDS and its third party affiliates is acknowledged as privileged and confidential. The exception to this is if you disclose that you will or have done physical harm to yourself or others. This type of disclosure we take very seriously and as mandated by federal law it is our ethical duty to report such types of disclosures. The other exception (although with even this scenario there still exists legal perimeters) is as a result of legal processing such as subpoenas or court orders.
Although any information that is exchanged between you and Chrysalis TDS is deemed as confidential and privileged information, Chrysalis TDS can not guarantee breeches of information. Solely because Chrysalis TDS does not have control over the dual environments that are created when conversing over the telephone or when conversing via chat/email. Chrysalis TDS can only secure its environment; they cannot secure your environment.
